West Bank Walls – Sander Buyck

West Bank Walls – Sander Buyck

West Bank Wall is a series of photographs made by photographer Sander Buyck during a trip to Palestine. Three photos are extra-muros distributed within Aalst, while Netwerk presents a wide selection of the photographer’s work.

Buyck’s project was prompted by the trip that Picasso’s Buste de Femme made to Palestine, a project that Khaled Hourani, Director of the Academy of Art Palestine initiated. The aim of the project was to show to the public an original work of Picasso in Palestine for the first time in history. Buyck documented this journey.
A Prior Magazine # 22, features the project’s background, images, history and criticism.

During the opening a debate takes place with artists Sander Buyck and Renzo Martens, Remco de Blaaij, curator of the Van Abbe Museum and Els Roelandt, chief editor of A Prior.
