Residency – E Vasilyeva and E Konovalova

In Spring 2011, la malterie welcomed the two russian artists Ekaterina Vasilyeva and Elizaveta Konovalova for a two-month residency.

The main purpose of this residency is to exchange ideas and artistic research between two different artists, who are starting their first collaboration. Both artists are native to Russia, and both have worked for few years in France. This duality between two cultures has determined their collaborative work and infuenced the project.

Inspired by notions of everyday life, spaces, landscapes and cities, this « laboratory » brings together the work of Ekaterina Vasilyeva  (particularly her sounds installations and sculptures) and that of  Elizaveta Konovalova, (particuraly in the field of photography and creating spaces).
