Balance of Power - Group Exhibition

la malterie / Lille / France

Welcome to la malterie / Lille / France.

An empty industrial site, once again a place of work, a creative meeting place, la malterie was created in Lille over 10 years ago. It has since evolved and its mission is based around the idea of experimentation, making la malterie an artistic laboratory where artists can share space with each other and collaborate.

La malterie was created by artists and continues to be artist led.

Mission
1- Information/advice
la malterie recently opened a resource for artists professional development. The resource delivers advice sessions, a library and also disseminates information and facilitates networking etc

2- Studios/residencies
la malterie supports research and experimentation across all forms of contemporary arts practice and promotes the emergence of new artistic forms. Our selection policy for studios and residencies favours a multi-disciplinary approach (music, visual arts, film, video etc) directed towards a process of arts research.

3- Concerts/events.
la malterie seeks to promote access to the creative process work that is innovative, alternative and offbeat. The organisations working with la malterie are autonomous, they have their own policies and initiatives. Events curated by la malterie are conceived as meetings between different emerging and often marginalised artistic practices.
