The basis of this outsiderproject was an invitation for an installation to take possession of a place: the kitchen garden of the Count. The wood and textile workshops at La ‘S’ Grand Atelier in Vielsalm joined up with the textile workshop of De Zandberg in Harelbeke. Emmanuel Cordonnier gave the start signal with a series of wooden sculptures that mirrored the curved fruit trees from the orchard. Rita Arimont quickly followed, along with Luc Bienfait, Tony Coopman, Laura Delvaux, Annemie De Paepe, Lindsy Mervylde, Florence Monfort, Nicole Ransbeek and Mieke Vanhessche, each with their own work.
The ‘garden of the Count’ becomes crowded, occupied, filled with a collection of independent pieces, each one a unique form that engages in dialogue with the other. La ‘S’ Grand Atelier in Vielsalm and De Zandberg in Harelbeke organize artistic workshops for persons with mental disabilities.
