aspex, Portsmouth’s leading contemporary art gallery, provides a fantastic environment to take time out to discover contemporary visual art, to be inspired, learn to think differently, to try something new or just relax.

The gallery, and the artists with whom we work, seek to push at boundaries to produce new, exciting and innovative art. With exhibitions in two gallery spaces and monthly changing displays of the best of contemporary crafts, we aim to reflect the diversity of media, perspectives and ideas expressed by contemporary artists today.

Our exhibitions are complemented by education activities for children of all ages, talks, screenings and the arc (artists’ resource centre) programme of professional development events.
